Believe it or not, this shot is an architect’s impression of central Berlin… with one fairly mountainous addition.
Of course, this looks like pure science fiction, but it’s really not. “The Berg” is Jakob Tigges’ proposal for what should take the place of the now-closed Templehof Airport. At 1,000 meters tall, this mountain would act as a natural habitat for animals, a ski-resort and (understandably) a tourist attraction. What’s more, the local residents are actually in support. It may be totally insane, but there’s a small part of us that really wants to see this…
