Neatorama was today a tad obsessed with the US. They posted two maps, each with a different take on the states.
The first one focuses on the thing each state is worst at: from cocaine use to nerdism, it’s all there. Have a look:
The other one is more serious, as based on economy, where states are compared to other countries in terms of their GDP and population. Apparently California is the equivalent of Italy! Check the interactive map here.
The iPhone seems to have become the Holy Grail of technology. People have queued all night to get their hands on the iPhone 4, half of the people in a tube carriage will have one in hand, the App’ Store grows bigger every day, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be dethroned anytime soon.
However, as popular as the iPhone might be in the Western world, it is far from being the best selling phone in the world. So who’s beaten it? The Nokia 1100 with 250 million people having one worldwide, whereas the iPhone has sold an ‘unimpressive’ 75 million.
The Nokia 1100 is far from being as fancy as the iPhone: black and white screen, real buttons to press (rather than stroking the oh so fragile screen of the iPhone), and no Apps! It pretty much looks like the old Nokia phones we remember as our first mobile phones.
It has become a must have in third world countries, and is being used to raise awareness of HIV and other disease through texts, which we think is a great and clever initiative.
This is the sort of findings that make us reconsider our fancy lifestyle and how it impacts on our way of thinking. As Alissa Walker (source of this article) says:
For anything to truly be impactful on a global scale, it’s definitely not going to be an app.

The past week has been reasonably pleasant for a month of October, making us forget about the coming winter. But today was a harsh comeback to reality, with its typical autumn weather: wind, icy raindrops, and the night falling far too early. Goodbye summer (if we can even say we had one over here).
Autumn is, for sure, the season of nostalgia, as we know that days are getting shorter and colder, and summer is still so far away. But with autumn comes one good thing: the leaves. Yes they can become very slippery and dangerous, and sometimes hiding bad surprises, but they can also be gathered into appetising piles in which all we want to do is just leap and… FOOMF!
It might be hard for some to achieve, as it does require a large amount of leaves, so just watch this video. It made us feel all good inside, and wanting to run outside looking for the bestest leaf pile in London despite the bleak weather!

Over the past 30 plus years if you were driving west on Interstate 10 in Southern California, US, you would have seen Dinny the Dinosaur – a 150-foot-long recreation of an apatosaurus. To be fair you could not miss the self styled “World’s biggest dinosaur.” Along with his ‘brother’ a 65-foot-long Tyrannosaurus Rex counterpart called “Mr. Rex”, this makes up a desert roadside attraction known as the Cabazon Dinosaurs.
So why post now if it has been there for 35 years – well rather randomly Dinny now houses a creationist museum in its abdomen. It is certainly ‘different’. It’s not the concept of a creationist museum that rocks our world you understand, but the fact it is in a dinosaurs belly.
This bike is brilliant – a mash-up of human-powered pizza delivery, brew pub, and portable entertainment system. Check out these images of one mean machine (source).

This video was made by one of our accounts guys for the Oxfam Cannes Young Lions competition a few months ago during a weekend off. We’re a little worried about how he spends his free time, and we’re glad he’s not on the creative side…
Still, it does show that everyone takes this stuff pretty seriously…
