Twitter Charity Auction

Twitter are about to release a toy of ‘Ollie’ – their famous bird logo, and it’s very cute. It may just be a little plastic figurine, but we still want one.

This is not the exciting bit, though. The toy is due to be released soon, but the early prototypes are about to be auctioned by Iconfactory in aid of American Cancer Research – always an excellent cause. The bidding ends at 2am tomorrow (GB time), and currently the little figurines are at $300… Get involved!

Bentley charity auction

Bentley have just hosted an exclusive art auction at Bonham’s, London,  to raise money for Manchester’s specialist cancer hospital The Christie. Any business-charity partnership is commendable, but this one is also pretty interesting from an art point of view. Some of the 40 lots were downright rubbish, but others are actually quite brilliant – we particularly like this one, made from aluminium, and some of the sculptures are pretty excellent.

Ranging from technical drawings to metal sculptures, all the pieces were done by Bentley’s car designers, who train in other mediums before being let loose on the cars themeselves. No details are available as yet as to how much was raised, but check back for further details. For now, just enjoy the work…

Gucci for UNICEF

Give us any links between big corporates and charities and we’re generally happy (MacDonalds and BP aside). Add in a bit of cool design and we’re ecstatic. Therefore, we love this new Gucci collection in aid of UNICEF. The elephant print bags in particular are pretty awesome, but the keyrings are also quite cute.

And of course, the important bit: 25% of the proceeds of every item sold go to UNICEF. Products are available from Gucci stores and gucci.com from yesterday until 31st December. So if you ever wanted an excuse to own something from Gucci, now’s the time…

All of us at Baby Towers are currently very excited about the prospect of key charity client Action for Children finally earning some well-deserved awards. The children’s charity is shortlisted for a Brand Development gong in the Communications, Marketing and Campaigning category of the Third Sector Awards this September. On top of this, we have also made it through to the shortlist for the Marketing Design Awards in the Third Sector category.
