A school of fish dodging sharks and heron

Isn’t nature amazing? We are amazed by schools of fish. We’re pretty sure anyone is to be honest: the way hundreds or thousands of fish move in such synchronisation is always a great spectacle.

We’ve found a video of 5 sharks hunting for a snack in a middle of a school of fish, but the little fish are giving them a hard time, dodging, as a group, the predators which also include a heron trying to take a chance on the shore.

BottomsUP beer

Have you ever found yourself waiting and waiting at a festival or sport event bar, just to get a nice, fresh pint? We have, and when there is so much happening around, it’s the last place you want to be stuck in (with toilet queues).

Pouring a pint takes time, about 30 seconds, and usually results in quite a lot of waste: getting the head right can sometimes be a bit of a challenge.

But someone in America has come up with a genius idea. What if instead of pouring a beer, you filled the glass from the bottom, which would solve the head and waste issue? The question is how.

Well, the way this system works, is with plastic cup, and a magnet which fills the hole at the bottom of the glass. When you remove the glass from the tap, it pulls the magnet to the bottom of the glass, and with the pressure from the liquid, the magnet stays in place, sealing the glass.

And on top of that, it pours a pint in about 5 seconds. Saves time, avoids waste, which keeps customers and bar tenders happy. A revolution for any future big event.

We’re just not too sure about the magnet waste though. And does it actually save more money, than traditional taps?

Space hopping through Venice

We found this great stop motion video of two people space hopping through the beautiful streets of Venice. They have edited it so that it looks like they are hovering, rather than bouncing through the street. At one point, it looks like one of them is considering jumping of the street into the water. We were rather disapointed he didn’t!

It must have been quite entertaining to shoot, but we can’t imagine the amount of editing behind it! It put a smile on out face on this grim Monday. And made us want to escape to Venice, space hopper in hand!

Intel’s viral movie

Intel is going viral with this great video made to promote the new Intel core i5 processor. Its title, The Chase, is pretty self explanatory. Based on action scenes from spy movies, it shows a woman trying to escape what we assume would be 2 gangsters.

But how does it actually relate, and sell the processor? Well, it’s all in the way it’s presented, as it’s not your regular James Bond movie. The story is moved from apps to apps, using each software’s attribute (eg. Google Streetview) as part of the story, to obviously show the benefits and performance of the new product.

It’s very well made, and will definitely make a fair bit of noise, although it hasn’t yet been picked up by many websites/blogs, which we think is quite surprising?!

New Facebook layout is great!

Facebook has once again changed its interface. This was obviously quickly followed by a few moans from unhappy users, but they will eventually get used to it.It is true that as always, the ‘new’ Facebook seems a bit confusing. Buttons have been shuffled, you can see people’s ‘friendships’, photos have invaded every part of the page, etc.

But it also comes with a lot of creative potential thanks to the new feature where 5 pictures are displayed at the top of each profile. We are not going to start a long explanation on what people can now do, just see for yourselves.

We personally love it, and would like to think we could come up with one, but we’re pretty sure it’s not an easy and quick job. Rather the opposite. We would say it requires a lot of time, precision, and patience. And we’re a tad too busy to spare any of them. We’re just going to look out for more and admire the work.

We are thinking this will make its way to online campaigns pretty soon, as it would be a great way to customise pages, and get users to engage more.

Sour are next to try an interactive music video

Arcade Fire interactive online video blew our minds, along with plenty others around the Internet, a few months back, remember?

Well we’re surprised the music industry waited that long to follow their steps. Our guess would be that they set the bar pretty high, and there is little room for mediocrity. Plus, it probably is much more time and money consuming to produce.

But Sour, a Japanese band, gave it a try, and we must say… it’s a pretty good one. There’s little room for disappointment.

They used the same magic formula – pop ups invading the screen and various personal information pulled from the Internet – but pushed it a tad more.

Where Arcade Fire’s video was only based on information supplied by the user and StreetView, this one uses Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google, LinkedIn etc. etc. All based on what can actually be found about you online.

The result is pretty impressive, but also quite scary. Seeing the amount of information we keep on our Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter profiles, and how easily it is to get access to this information using Google, startled us a bit.

It’s one thing to know how information rich the Internet is – and let’s face it, it’s not just news and other bits of information, but also a lot of personal stuff – but it’s another one to see it in action when you’re not really in control of the flow.

Still, we appreciate the effort put in the video, and rather liked it. We’re not too fond of the song though.

Leap into a leaf pile and… FOOMF!

The past week has been reasonably pleasant for a month of October, making us forget about the coming winter. But today was a harsh comeback to reality, with its typical autumn weather: wind, icy raindrops, and the night falling far too early. Goodbye summer (if we can even say we had one over here).

Autumn is, for sure, the season of nostalgia, as we know that days are getting shorter and colder, and summer is still so far away. But with autumn comes one good thing: the leaves. Yes they can become very slippery and dangerous, and sometimes hiding bad surprises, but they can also be gathered into appetising piles in which all we want to do is just leap and… FOOMF!

It might be hard for some to achieve, as it does require a large amount of leaves, so just watch this video. It made us feel all good inside, and wanting to run outside looking for the bestest leaf pile in London despite the bleak weather!

Emily’s story

We are proud to announce that our Emily ad is back on TV. The Action for Children ad, which narrates Emily’s story, originally ran across some key programming this Spring, raising awareness of child neglect. The storyline is the same, but we tweaked the end frame a little, inviting people to text 70099 to get more information on Neglect and how to take action.

The good thing? The text is charged at standard network rate. An easy way to help a good cause without inflating your phone bill. Have a look at the film here, or keep an eye out when watching your favourite programmes on C4. And maybe pick up your phone and spread the word afterwards?

And to find out more about Action for Children, and their neglect appeal, visit their website.

The Weather Network’s TV campaign

Canadian local forecast company The Weather Network‘s new TV campaign is simply stunning.

The campaign is made of four films, each picturing a different region of Canada: a wink to their claim to be the most accurate for local forecasts. And what a sight! The films are beautifully shot, the landscapes are amazing, so much that it’s not just a great campaign for the company, but also for Canada. We just want to jump on a plane and see this with our own eyes.

Arcade Fire’s interactive music video

We have pretty much fallen in love with Arcade Fire’s new music video for The Wilderness Downtown. Well, we say music video, it’s actually no traditional one. They’ve hopped on the digital bandwagon by producing an interactive video. Not only is it ingenious, it’s also beautiful to watch. And let’s not forget the song itself, which is amazing too.

When you get on the website, you’re first asked to download Google Chrome. We sense a very subtle sponsorship there. That unfortunately takes a bit of the charm away. Next step is to enter the address of the house you grew up in, as parts of the video use Google Street View and satellite view.

It then launches the video. Without revealing too much, first because it would probably sound a bit rubbish, and also because it would take all the fun away, the experience is made of several windows which move around, showing different sort of footages, some based on the information entered, other probably common to everyone.

At the end, you can also write a postcard to the past you, where you can draw and write, with a ‘tree’-like font. Very pretty indeed.

To create your own music video, just click on this link, and follow the instructions. Prepare to be blown away.
